3 Library The 7 th AMICAL Meeting and Conference (Budapest, June 09 -12) Operation, maintenance and support of: -Catalog services -Toolbar for web browsers of CEU computers -Own designed library website -Web-based research database licensing -SHOAH archives -Multimedia library material and operation -Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Collection -CEU Faculty Bibliography -Etc.

4 Computer and Statistics Center The 7 th AMICAL Meeting and Conference (Budapest, June 09 -12) An academic unit which provides a variety of courses in computer science and statistics for members of the CEU community. The courses cover MS Office applications, the Internet, HTML editors, database and statistics applications and are open to all CEU students, faculty & staff members.

5 CEU Webteam The 7 th AMICAL Meeting and Conference (Budapest, June 09 -12) Redesign, operation and improvement of CEU Website. Drupal open-source Content Management System (Web CMS) The common goals are: - to have a standard, unified interface for units and departments - to provide efficient in-house support for maintain these sites - to reinforce CEU’s use of online collaborative tools with this central interface/portal

6 Infrastructure The 7 th AMICAL Meeting and Conference (Budapest, June 09 -12) Computer Network of around 800 desktop computers 120 computers dedicated for MA students in MA computer labs 100 computers dedicated for PhD students 30 computers in Student dormitory 40 computers in Library - high speed and highly secure Internet connection - large number of CEU site licenced or freeware/open-source applications - Numerous network and Web-based databases and research tools

7 VPN access – Virtual Private Network The 7 th AMICAL Meeting and Conference (Budapest, June 09 -12) VPN’s purpose is to extend the CEU network to home computers, so all CEU licensed web-based databases become available from home computers also. VPN service for: - all students - faculty and staff members To reach the following resources from outside of campus network: - Library Databases - CEU Library Catalog - University Information System

8 IT Services provided by IT Department The 7 th AMICAL Meeting and Conference (Budapest, June 09 -12) Helpdesk support - To provide adequate technical support to CEU members - Operates according to library opening hours - Can be reached over telephone, e-mail or in person E-mail system Network file storage system Telephone system Printing facilities Wireless network access E-learning site

9 Future Goals The 7 th AMICAL Meeting and Conference (Budapest, June 09 -12) Information Technology Strategic Goals at CEU for the next five years Short term - Joint project of Library, CSC and IT - help the teaching activity - improving the E-learning services at CEU Long term - enhancing online collaboration on wider range of mobile tools and devices
