2 A dialogue Waiter: Good morning, are you ready to order? Mark: Yes, for starter we would like tomato and mozzarella salad. Waiter: And what would you like for the main course? Allie: For me grilled salmon and baked potatoes, please. Mark: I´d like a steak with chips. Waiter: Yes, sir. And how would you like the steak? Mark: Rare, please. Waiter: Anything for drink? Allie: A bottle of red wine and two glasses of water, please. Waiter: Thank you.

3 …30 minutes later… Waiter: Salmon for madam and the steak for you, sir. Allie: I´m sorry but I asked for baked potatoes not chips. Waiter: I´m sorry, no problem, just a minute I´ll fix it. Mark: And wait, please. My steak should have been rare and this one is well- done. Waiter: Sorry, sir, I´ll take it back to the kitchen, immediately.

4 …ready to pay… Waiter: Have you finished? Allie: Yes, thank you. Waiter: Would you like to have anything else? Mark: No, thank you, could we have the bill, please? Waiter: Yes, sir. … Waiter: Your bill. Mark: Can I pay by credit card? Waiter: No problem, just a moment.

11 Practice  In pairs (or groups of three) roleplay a similar dialogue at the restaurant. Include at least one problem (or one mistake) with the meal ordered.  Act out the dialogue to the class.
