2. VISION Our vision is to produce students who are fully conscious of their accountability to God, confident in their identity as Muslims, and ready to fulfill their obligations as citizens of Canada.

3. MISSION We will strive to nurture the intellectual, social, spiritual, moral and physical well-being of our students, fostering integrity, excellence of character and a deep sense of responsibility as they grow to become exemplary Muslims and productive citizens of the world.

4. CURRICULUM In addition to adhering to the Ontario curriculum, the school will offer specialized programs in Arabic Language, Islamic Studies & French. We will draw upon the excellent academic and scholarly resources within the community to develop a specialized curriculum that will integrate Islamic knowledge, ethics and values into every subject area, thereby providing a foundation for transformative learning that is in harmony with our god-given nature.

5. ETHOS The ultimate objective of any worldly endeavour is the achievement of felicity in the next world. The IIT ACADEMY will create harmony between the intellectual, physical and spiritual dimensions of each child. Our school will be a safe and respectful place, a place where students and teachers will work harmoniously to achieve academic excellence and to grow in knowledge, faith and practice; where there is recognition and understanding of the rights of fellow students and teachers, fellow human beings and love for the country in which we live.

7. GUIDING EDUCATIONAL PRINCIPLES Students learn best: In an environment that is safe and respectful, where they feel that their views and opinions are valued, and where they know that they can count on their teachers for emotional support. When their teachers understand that every child is unique, learn in different ways and achieve their potential through different forms of struggle. In an environment that is conducive to learning, is well resourced and integrates tools and technologies for greater efficiency. When parents, students and teachers work together in a positive partnership.

8. REGISTRATION & TUITION All parents must provide the required registration information for each child in order to ensure his/her place in the school. Parents are required to provide post- dated cheques for the entire school year in September.

9. PUNCTUALITY Regular attendance is a key to success in the classroom. The school day starts at 8:45 a.m. and students are expected to arrive in the school by 8:30 a.m. Parents who wish to drop off their children before this time must register their child in the before care program.

10. DISMISSAL The school day ends at 3:30 p.m. Parents are responsible for picking up their children at this time. If parents will be late or are sending someone else to pick up their children, they must inform their child’s teacher in the morning. Teachers will not release students to individuals whom the parents have not authorized to pick up their children. If parents wish to pick up their children during school hours, they must inform their child’s teacher in advance in order to avoid interrupting the students during class time.

11. FRIDAYS Friday is a regular school day. Parents are asked not to disturb the class by picking up their children after the Juma’a prayer. Please pick up your children no earlier than 3:30 p.m. BEFORE AND AFTER CARE Before school care takes place from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and after school care takes from 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for an additional monthly fee. Parents who wish to utilize this service must register their child with the school office in September.

12. DROP OFF & PICK-UP Students in junior and senior kindergarten should be dropped off in their classrooms in the morning. Students in grades 1 to 5 must be dropped off in the gymnasium. All students should be picked up from the gymnasium at 3:30 p.m. Any student who is not picked up by 3:45 p.m. will be sent to after care. To ensure safety of all students parents are asked to park their cars in their parking spaces when picking up their children. No cars are permitted on the driveway in front of the main entrance.

13. SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS In the event of severe weather conditions, IIT Academy will be closed if the Toronto District School Board chooses to close its schools. Please listen to your local radio station or check the TDSB website. In case of severe snowstorm during school hours that forces an early dismissal, the school will make every effort to inform parents and guardians. Always ensure that your children are appropriately dressed for the weather and that they have labelled mitts, hats, scarves and boots.
