3 Supplemental Salaries Committee Members volunteered or were appointed by Personnel Policy Committee. These members came from all levels of the district – high school to elementary The committee was asked to look at compensation given to certified personnel for work done beyond the regular teaching duties and was expanded to include coaching indexes. Job descriptions were added at a later date

4 Procedures For Developing Recommendations A survey was given to any certified staff who received remuneration for a service beyond the duties associated with a traditional school day Certified staff who does not receive remuneration for an activity, but believed they should were given an opportunity to complete survey

9 Index Levels Index A: additional days and duties; paid in monthly check and calculated on current salary Index B: additional duties; paid in a separate check at the end of the school year and calculated on the base salary Index C: additional days only; paid in the monthly check and calculated on current salary Index D: grandfathered, additional duties paid in a monthly check based on current salary Hourly Wage: additional duties; paid in a separate check and calculated on an hourly basis

10 Index Payments The accounting department recommended the use of an index, which will allow those being compensated to receive increases as the salary schedule is modified and eliminating the need for frequently revisiting the supplemental salary issue. The SS committee will revisit the stipend amounts to determine if any necessary changes are needed.

11 Job Descriptions Were written with the input of administrators and teachers The evaluation of the position is tied to the job description The teacher holding the position should make additions, suggestions, and deletions to the job description as needed

12 Subject Level Chair These are subject area leaders for 5 th and 6 th grade at each middle school.

13 Lead Teachers These are grade level leaders at each grade level at each elementary school.

14 Department Chairs Every high school and junior high faculty member, including counselors, media specialists, etc will be assigned to a department by the building principal. These chairs will have approximately the same number of teachers in each department.

15 Clubs There are 3 levels of Clubs: 1, 2, and Inactive Sponsor decides the level after student interest is assessed and turns in the club level designation to the Director of Personnel by Oct. 1 st. The club roster form is required for each meeting and activity

16 Level 1 – Maximum Involvement Hold minimum of 1 meeting per month during school hours 1 article per semester to be submitted for publication in a newspaper or professional journal Four activities (2 each semester), outside of the school day, per year (July 1 – June 30) ***activities must include many of the club members and not just a few Clubs are encouraged to include at least 1 community service project, but it is not required

17 Level 2 – Minimum Involvement Hold minimum of 1 meeting per month during school hours 1 article be to submitted for publication in a newspaper or professional journal Outside activities are encouraged but not required

18 Inactive The club can choose to be inactive that year if the student population chooses not participate.

19 Notebooks All positions other than teaching related positions will be required to keep a notebook. Notebooks are to be signed out from the building principal within the first week of school. Notebooks are due to the building principal for initial evaluation and completion of the end-of-the-year rubric on or before April 20 th Notebooks are due to the Director of Personnel by May 1st. If May 1st falls on a weekend then the notebook is due the Friday before. Failure to meet this deadline will result in NO payment being made. The only exception to this rule are positions involving activities which cannot be completed by the deadline; (example – project graduation, senior class sponsor, etc)

20 Notebook Documentation Notebooks must contain documentation referred to in the job description Notebooks may be returned to the individual for revisions before the rubric is completed Sample notebooks for reference are kept on file at the central office Inadequate documentation will result in partial or no payment

26 Application Procedure for Supplemental Salary 1.Print out and complete the “Supplemental Salary Application” from the district’s web site located under the “Personnel” tab. 2.The applications are to be submitted to the building administrator for review. 3.The building administrator will sign and send the “Supplemental Salary Application” to the Director of Personnel. 4.All requests for consideration for a supplemental salary in the current school year must be have the completed application submitted no later than October 1.

27 Application Review Procedure 1.The Supplemental Salary Committee will meet during the year to review supplemental salary applications. 2.Approved applications will be sent for evaluation to the Superintendent and the Director of Personnel. 3.The Supplemental Salary Committee will review the administrative recommendation and a decision will be made the Personnel Policy Committee. 4.The Personnel Policy Committee will make a final recommendation to the Superintendent. 5.The Superintendent may submit the recommendation to the school board. 6.The Supplemental Salary Committee will keep applications on file in the Cabot Public Schools Central Administrative Office.

28 Conclusion The school board and the administration are amazed at the wonderful things taking place in our district and want everyone to have the opportunity to be compensated for those extra activities, but they do expect to see evidence of a job well done.
