1 Integer Rules Adding Integers (+) + (+) = (+)  A positive plus a positive is positive. (-) + (-) = (-)  A negative plus a negative is negative.  (+) + (-) = subtract and use the sign of the larger integer

2 Integer Rules Subtracting Integers Subtracting integers is really “adding the opposite!” Follow the following rules:  1 st integer stays the same  Change minus sign to a plus sign  Use the opposite of the second integer  Follow rules for addition of integers

3 Integer Rules Multiplication and Division of Integers  Same Signs = Answer is Positive (+) x/÷ (+) = (+) (-) x/÷ (-) = (+)  Different Signs = Answer is Negative (+) x/÷ (-) = (-)
