2. What is Community Service? Community Service is a service that one provides to give back to their community. Community Service is a service that one provides to give back to their community.

3. Why is Community Service Important to me? Community Service is important to me for several reasons!  Community service makes me feel good to know I am helping other people in a positive way!  I believe community service builds character and it also makes me feel good about myself.  I believe everyone should do community service to give something back to the community!

4. Community Service that I participated in… Community service is a big part of my life. I have been doing community service for North Star Church since middle school. We helped at food banks and clean up several places. This year I have done community service for my Freshman Year Experience class. First Semester I cleaned trash at the park pretty much all day! I also have been doing community service at Calvary Children’s Home for about two years now! I participated in the car wash to raise money for Relay for Life. I also cleaned up Brown Hall for some more community service! Community service is a big part of my life. I have been doing community service for North Star Church since middle school. 8. Calvary Children’s Home  Ben F. Turner Jr. was the founder of the Calvary Children’s Home.  The first visions for a home such as Calvary Children’s home started in Jerusalem, Israel, while he was leading a group tour to the Holy Land.  A women approached him offering him ten dollars for her baby so she could support the other children she had.  This was a very touching experience for him so he decided to open The Calvary Children’s Home. Home.

9. How I participated in the Calvary Children’s Home… Working at the Calvary homes was one of the most valuable experiences I have ever had while doing community service. Working at the Calvary homes was one of the most valuable experiences I have ever had while doing community service. I did plenty of work at the homes. I cleaned up the houses for them. I would watch cartoons with them and we would make brownies! I really enjoyed working with the children. Sometimes they would just want me to keep the children company. 10. Brown Hall Clean up! Brown Hall had a clean up day on April 23 rd. Brown Hall had a clean up day on April 23 rd.  We cleaned the lobby! We picked up all the trash around the lobby and we also cleaned all the windows.  We also cleaned the bathrooms and the hall ways!  After we cleaned up Brown Hall it looked amazing!

13. Pizza… Yummy!! After we were all done cleaning up the messy Brown Hall the RA’s bought us all pizza!

14. What I got out of Community Service… What I got out of Community Service… I felt better about myself by giving back to the community. I felt better about myself by giving back to the community. I will continue to do community service in the future because since I have been participating in community service I have had many life changing experiences.
