How Does Taking a Foreign Language Make Me Ready For College? Taking a foreign language proves that you are willing to go the extra mile; it sets you apart from the crowd! All college bound students need at least 2 years of a foreign language to enter a Georgia College or University. Taking a 3 rd and 4 th year is how colleges will determine if your application will be given additional consideration. UGA, Georgia Tech, Emory require 3+ years and most upper tier universities recommend or require 4 years.
