Presentation of the Geography Out- standing Student Service Award. Announcement of new Geography Scholarship Awards. Review of Geography course offerings for next year. Saying farewell to our international exchange and graduating students. Reconvening afterwards at the pub to celebrate the end of another successful academic year! “Come join us and say farewell to your geography friends!”

Housekeeping Items O A reminder that I will be teaching GEOG 433 in the spring of 2014: The Geography of Music, focusing on jazz (gypsy jazz), blues, rock, rhythm and blues, and more. O Any more reactions to the film, “One Piece at a Time”? O Today, we will pull together some of the threads from the course and start the review for the final exam. O I will also ask you to fill out an evaluation of the course, including an evaluation of your own role, and will ask for some verbal feedback as well.

Feedback on the Course O I will hand around some evaluation forms. If you don’t feel comfortable with your course evaluation and your self-evaluation being on the same sheet, then tear the latter off and submit separately. O What are your thoughts about · the book? · the lectures · the guest speakers · the videos · the assignments · anything else? O What do you see as the main threads weaving through the course?

Themes of the Course O The book lists nine main themes: · climate change · democratization · development · food · gender · globalization · population · urbanization · water. O Are there any others you would add? O What are some examples of how these themes have played themselves out in the material we have covered?

The Final Exam O The final will consist of T/F and multiple choice, short answers, and essay questions. O Study the chapters and PowerPoints from Sub-Saharan Africa on (Chapters 7-11). Certainly, review the PowerPoints first, but also review the chapters – you are supposed to have read them anyways. You will need to know some facts for the exam, as well as to be able to demonstrate your reasoning powers – your ability to analyze and synthesize.
