7 NETGEAR CONFIDENTIAL Toubleshooting

8 NETGEAR CONFIDENTIAL PoE example 1 3 PoE devices are connected to port 1 – 3 consuming 27 W. 5 W of power remain available. The PoE MAX LED will light up as less than 7W of power is available. The FS108P will not provide power to any newly connected PoE device. The 5 W of power is reserved for power surges by the original PoE devices.

9 NETGEAR CONFIDENTIAL PoE example 2 Port 1 has a PoE device drawing 12 W. Port 2 has a PoE device drawing 7 W. Port 3 has a PoE device drawing 12 W. Total power consumption 12+7+12 = 31W. PoE MAX LED will light up. If PoE device at port 2 surge to 10 W, port 3 will stop providing power. The power of port 3 will be allocated to port 2. (Priority is given to the device that is already plugged in and then based on port number) PoE LED for port 3 will turn off, PoE Fault LED will turn on and PoE MAX LED will turn off.

10 NETGEAR CONFIDENTIAL PoE example 3 Port 2 is using 7 W and port 3 is using 15.4 W for a total of 22.4 W. When an additional PoE device is plug into port 1 that needs 13 W, port 1 will not be providing power since it will exceed the 32 W maximum. Port 2 and 3 has priority since they are plugged in when port 1 is being connected to. PoE Fault LED for port 1 will turn on.
