2 Compare/Contrast Read The Three Little Pigs and The Three Little Javelinas picture books. Now we will compare and contrast the stories.

3 Compare – How are they alike? Pigs are the main characters The pigs build houses One pig is smarter than the others The Wolf is evil and tricky The plot is the same The theme is the same

4 Contrast – How are they different? There are two males and one female in The Three Little Javelinas. There are three males in The Three Little Pigs. The setting is different. The houses are made of different materials.

5 Can you think of another story similar to these? The True Story of the Three Little Pigs The Awful Fate of Mr. Wolf The Story of the Pigs The Three Pigs Some of these are told from the wolf’s point of view.

6 What other stories are similar? Cinderella and The Rough-Faced Girl Little Red Riding Hood and Lon Po Po Leo Lionni stories Chris van Allsburg stories

7 You can compare and contrast any stories. Good readers do this all the time! Think about what is different and what is the same about each story. Look at characters, setting, plot action, and ending.
