7 The Content Interview Assume you have already had a preliminary job interview where you discussed your r é sum é and the details of the job. You are now at a second stage: –The employer wants to know if you understand some basic skills and concepts. 8 The Content Interview (Cont.) At competition you will be given a list of four Performance Indicators. You will meet with a judge who plays the role of employer in a business. You will explain the performance indicators as they relate to that business and job. The judge/employer will ask several follow- up questions. (Continued) As you look at the Performance Indicators, notice that some of them say “district/state/province” beside them and others are labeled “ICDC.” This means that some are for early competitions and others are reserved for the International competition. 16 When will you compete? Your first taste of competition will be in your local area (district, region) in the late fall. If you do well at the local competition, you can move on to the state/ provincial competition, usually after the turn of the calendar year. Those who place highest then move on to the International Career Develop- ment Conference in Anaheim, Calif.; Orlando, Fla.; or another major city in late April.
