3 What it takes People that want to become vets need at least 2 years in college work, and 4 years of study in a college of veterinary medicine. In school, as a student you would study subjects like physiology, anatomy, microbiology, surgery and pathology. You would need a D.M.V. Or V.M.D. (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree or and equivalent degree.

4 Basic Info Veterinary Medicine is the branch of medicine that deals with the diseases of animals. Vets are trained well to be able to diagnose, prevent, and treat illnesses in large and in small animals.

5 Basic Info The proper vaccination for dogs, cats, and ferrets helps against rabies contribute. Veterinarians also vaccinate house hold pet against distemper and other diseases.

6 On the Farm Vets are important on farms too. They help keep livestock in good health, to try to prevent out breaks of deadly diseases. New vaccines have made it easier for vets to try to protect livestock from many diseases.

7 Other Info 27 colleges of veterinary medicine are in the U.S. Canada has 4 colleges, and 8 colleges in other various countries. That are accredited full by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

9 Conclusion Basically it takes a good degree, a good veterinary school, and a passion for animals!!! So, if you consider becoming a vet make sure you have a passion for it.
