3 History: Ownership: Jessica Zilch, Molly Diecker, Emily LaMarche, Demi Haynes, Amanda Berding The NEMO Art Center was founded in 2014, located in downtown Kirksville.

4 Mission Statement: The NEMO Art Center provides an artistic outlet for the creative community. The center impacts the local community by providing an innovative, educational and multidisciplinary arts experience.

5 Goals: ●Provide an affordable artistic experience. ●Provide an exploration into the visual arts. ●Provide the community with a gallery to display, and view artwork. ●Provide the community with open studio space to create their own artwork. ●Provide educational opportunities in the arts.

9 Threats: ●Competitors include local schools/colleges and other art centers that offer art courses ●Small art market ●Not enough interest in art in the surrounding community ●Lack of available employees

10 Business Plan ●Marketing: Reaching out to school districts to get the youth involved and promote to college students for extra opportunities to learn through posters, flyers, art stores, and schools, as well as hosting art shows for the public ●Financial Plan: Receiving government funding, fundraising in the community, reaching out to the community for volunteers, and renting out gallery and studio space. Employee Pay Rate = $10/hr from customer payment for classes (in-depth income of classes found on each class description slide) ●Management: Board of Directors includes Demi Haynes (Marketing), Emily LaMarche (Treasurer), Amanda Berding (Vice President), Molly Diecker (Secretary), and Jessica Zilch (President).

11 Classes Offered: ●Printmaking ●Painting ●Beginner and Intermediate Drawing ●Graphic Design ●Ceramics and Sculpture

12 Printmaking Classes ●At the NEMO Art Center we provide a variety of specific printmaking classes. We have specific classes for certain techniques such as screen printing, relief printing, and Lithography. We do not have a course over intaglio printing because of the process, but you could arrange a special session with our printmaking instructor if you wanted to learn that process. In these courses we provide students with the proper knowledge of the technique, and provide projects for students to perfect the technique. When taking the class, students will also have access to the print shop at certain times so that they can work on projects or freelance work. ●$150.00 for a 3 course workshop ●$300.00 for a week long summer bootcamp ●Other prices vary depending on the year.

13 Painting Classes Our centers provides painting classes for every level of artist,including open studio for those that want to work separately. Each class will be lead by an experienced instructor.

14 Painting Class Descriptions: ●Basic Painting for beginners: In basic painting, students will start with acrylic painting. Students will learn traditional painting processes. Foundational elements will be emphasized like how mix color, composition, and paint application on canvas. ●Intermediate Painting: Students move onto other mediums such as oils and water color. Students will be taught a variety different painting styles; anything from working in a cubist technique to painting en plein air. In addition students will be taught to make their own canvases. ●Advanced Painting: Advanced painting emphasizes personal experimentation. Painters will be encouraged to pursue their own personal styles and interests. Students will be taught how to work on a variety of different painting surfaces, and how to use mixed media in an effective way. ●Open Studio: For a small studio fee, artists can enjoy an open space to work. Easels, taburetes, and other tools are provided.

15 Drawing (Supplies included) Beginner (Summer course, once a week, days vary) ●This class if for people who are relatively new to drawing. ●We will introduce you to many mediums including charcoal, oil and regular pastels, colored pencils, ink, graphite, etc. ●We will be focusing on prospective, relationships between objects, and proportion. ●This class if for people who do not consider themselves necessarily creative, but would like to discover the artistic world. $129.00 Intermediate (Summer course, once a week, days vary) ●This class is for people who are more experienced in drawing and have a grasp on certain techniques already. ●We will explore what it is like to mix medias like charcoal and ink. ●We start with still life and move on to figures as the class progresses ●We will explore and experiment with light and values as well as relationships and perspective. $129.00

16 Graphic Design Class Description: NEMO offers a professional graphic design course that teaches students how to effectively create web and print design on computers. In this course, students master such computer programs as Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Flash. CSS and HTML web coding is also taught in this course to give students the tools necessary to succeed in today’s computerized graphic design market. The graphic design course runs as a three week workshop for a total rate of $100. Supplies for this course are included.

17 Ceramics Class Description ●Beginner classes include lessons in basic clay construction, such as building with pinch pots, coils, and slabs. Beginners will also learn the basics of firing and glazing pieces. Cost of course (includes materials): ●Intermediate classes include lessons in throwing on the potter’s wheel, working with different types of clay (such as stoneware and porcelain), and experimenting with different texture glazes. Intermediate students are free to use the open studio on their own time. Cost of course (includes materials): ●Advanced classes focus on developing a unique style of ceramic work, relying heavily on the student’s independent work and time spent outside of class in the open studio.
