The Lifeguard Family is an expanding series of profoundly capable, state-of-the-art underwater products from Cochran Consulting, Inc. These products are the culmination of almost three decades of engineering and manufacturing experience providing divers with highly reliable, and uniquely capable products with rich features never before seen. Cochran has more years of experience with no product recalls than ANY other dive computer related company. Cochran is the ONLY approved supplier of dive computers to the U.S. Military and many other Militaries world-wide. Cochran designed and produces the ONLY dive computers on the US “Approved for Military Use”, and is the ONLY dive computers on the NATO list. At this time, the Lifeguard Family consists of two major products: the Lifeguard Recorder and the Lifeguard Dive Computer. For the Lifeguard Dive Computer there are currently two peripherals: the Lifeguard Display Module and the Lifeguard Team Display Module. The Lifeguard Recorder Module is a stand-alone “Black Box” functionally similar to an aircrafts “Black Box”. “Black Boxes” are actually Orange for easy visibility. Some of the Lifeguard Recorder models allow it to be connected to high pressure port(s) and/or PO2 sensor(s). The Recorder Module has no task loading and is fully autonomous and even turns itself on and off automatically. Massive, detailed data are recovered via a USB connection and the Cochran Analyst PC software Version 5.0. The Lifeguard Dive Computer consists of nine versions of the Lifeguard CPU Module which is a highly sophisticated, yet simple to operate full-function dive computer that can be connected to high pressure port(s) and/or PO2 sensor(s). The CPU Module wirelessly transmits ALL computed data to peripherals within a one meter range that have the proper address. Currently available peripherals include an LCD Display Module and a Team LCD Module. Also, detailed data can be recovered via a USB connection and the Cochran Analyst PC software Version 5.0. © 2015 Cochran Consulting, Inc.

3 Lifeguard® Family Introduction Lifeguard Recorder Module
The Cochran Lifeguard Recorder is a powerful, feature-rich, combination of a Dive Data Recorder and a Flight Data Recorder in an amazingly small module. There are nine models (R0 to R8) with various configurations of sensors from no high pressure sensors up to two high pressure sensors with up to three PO2 sensors. The Recorder Module stores massive amounts of profile data to a very high precision. 8,192 dives with over 10,000 dive-hours are stored. User selectable data sampling rates are from once per second to four samples per second. It is powered by two redundant, user replaceable batteries that provide over two years of reliable operation. There are no rechargeable batteries to wear out, and no battery chargers to lose. Working in the background, the Recorder silently, unobtrusively, provides automatic, hands-free, detailed recording of your dive data. There are no buttons, controls, or tapping. The Data Recording Rate is user selectable to an astonishing 1.00 seconds, 0.50 seconds, or 0.25 seconds. Furthermore, between dives it automatically, seamlessly is a Flight Data Recorder and records important relevant information such as altitude, temperature, and battery voltages, even while “off”. It has no task loading and is totally automatic with no switches or buttons. Just connect it and forget it. It even turns itself on and off automatically. Cochran Consulting, Inc. was the first company to develop and market a wireless (“Hoseless”) Air Integrated Dive Computer in Others followed thereafter, and have marketed Hoseless Dive Computers since. Except for Cochran, all Hoseless technologies are similar, but the unique Cochran technology continues to be the most robust and capable. The fundamental difference between the two technologies is the REASON or PURPOSE for the transmission of information. The purpose of the other technologies is to simply remove any high pressure hose from a scuba system. This limited vision typically leads the system to transmit cylinder pressure and sometimes another related parameter such as Transmitter Battery voltage. Typically, this transmitter has no CPU and is relatively unsophisticated. Furthermore, the Lifeguard transmits short, compressed data packets once every second while others have long transmissions every three to five seconds. The Lifeguard can accurately compute gas flows and workload while others cannot. The purpose of the unique Cochran technology is to compute and transmit ALL relevant Dive Information to ANY device (peripheral) with the proper receiver within range that has a matching address. These peripherals currently include a “Receiver-LCD-Display” Module and a “Team-Receiver-LCD-Display” Module. The Cochran transmitter is actually a very capable CPU that measures many sensors, computes all relevant gas loadings, internally stores massive amounts of data, and transmits ALL relevant information. Depending on the specific Lifeguard CPU Model and mode, it will transmit a total of over 90 unique, high precision variables. This Cochran system is called the “Lifeguard Dive Computer System” with the cylinder mounted module called the “Lifeguard CPU Module”. The Lifeguard CPU Module is a combination of a sophisticated processor, numerous sensors, a data transmitter, a Dive Data Recorder, and a Flight Data Recorder in an amazingly small package. There are nine models with various configurations of sensors from one high pressure sensor to two high pressure sensors with up to three PO2 sensors. The Lifeguard CPU Module stores massive amounts of data to a very high precision at one second sampling of profiles. It stores data for 8,192 dives and over 8,000 hours of dive profiles. It is powered by two redundant, user replaceable batteries that typically provide over two years of reliable operation. There are no rechargeable batteries to wear out, and no battery chargers to lose. Working in the background, the Lifeguard CPU Module automatically, unobtrusively, hands-free, measures numerous dive parameters, computes gases loadings, transmits relevant data, and provides a detailed recording of your dive data. For multi-gas applications it features automatic gas switching of up to seven different gas mixtures. There are no buttons, controls, or tapping. Just connect it and forget it. It even turns itself on and off automatically. Furthermore, between dives it automatically, seamlessly is a Flight Data Recorder and records important relevant information such as altitude, temperature, and battery voltages, even while “off”. The Lifeguard CPU Module is available with numerous Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Helium algorithms. Currently over eleven unique algorithms are in the Cochran Algorithm Library. Some of these algorithms are only available for “special” applications. The Receiver-Display Module peripheral is the primary means of communicating dive information to the diver. It is typically worn on the divers wrist but is also available in hose-mount and retractor-mount configurations. This is usually referred to as the “Lifeguard Display Module”. The Module receives data transmitted from a Lifeguard CPU Module that have matching addresses and are within a one meter radius of each other. The Module is fully automatic with no task loading and no buttons. It even automatically turns itself on and off. It has an on-demand LED backlight (“Taclite”) with user selectable colors: Red, Orange, or Amber. The Taclite is turned on by tapping or bumping the case and turns on for ten seconds. This “On Time” can be changed by the user. The intensity of the Taclite is intentionally low so it can be seen by the diver but cannot be seen from the surface. The trans-flective display can be seen in even the brightest sunlight. It is powered by one user replaceable battery that typically provides up to two years of reliable operation. The Teams Receiver-Display peripheral allows one diver to monitor the dive parameters of a number of divers in his “Team”. There can be any number of divers in a “Team” and any number of “Teams” on a given Mission. There is no cross-talk between Teams or Team Members. It is typically worn on the divers wrist but is also available in hose-mount and retractor-mount configurations. This is usually referred to as the “Lifeguard Team Module T1”. The Team Module receives data transmitted from any Lifeguard CPU Module that has matching addresses and are within a one meter radius of each other. This Team Display Module recognizes the nine CPU Module type it is communicating with and assumes its specific personality. Up to 64 unique addresses can be set into this Module so that it can recognize up to 64 Lifeguard CPU Modules. The Module is fully automatic with no task loading and no buttons. It even automatically turns itself on and off. It has an on-demand LED backlight (“Taclite”) with user selectable colors: Red, Orange, or Amber. The purpose of the Cochran Lifeguard Wired Telemetry system is to allow topside personnel to monitor dive data from a diver below the surface but tethered to a topside platform. Attached to the diver is a Cochran wireless Lifeguard CPU Module dive computer that measures numerous dive sensors and computes dive parameters. These data are then transmitted to a diver-worn display within one meter of range and a small pickup module that impresses the transmissions onto the voice communications cable. Topside is a wireless pickup that sends the data transmissions onto a topside Display Module. The topside Tender sees exactly the same data as the diver. At a one second rate all relevant data is also recorded. The data transmissions are a much higher frequency and cannot be heard in the voice communications. The tether can be of the type that carries a breathing gas and a four-wire voice communications system such as the Interspiro DP-1. Alternatively, it can be a “Comm-Rope” tether that does not carry a breathing gas but does have a four-wire voice communications system. The voice communications system can be an Ocean Technology Systems (OTS) system, a Hytech system, or an Ibsophone system. These are available in one or two diver systems.
