Under normal conditions, the temperature of the human body is constant. Temperature is a very sensible indicator of the functional condition, because any pathological process in the living body changes it. In most cases, temperature changes are the first symptoms of a disease.
In general, inflammation and excessive blood circulation increase temperature. Degenerative processes, fibrosis and poor circulation leads to decreasing of the local temperature above the affected area.
The foundation of application of thermal diagnostics in medicine is a strong correlation between temperature and the functional condition of the human body.

The most part of human body heat is radiated to external environment in an infrared spectrum within 5-14 mcm band. In this band the power of infrared radiation is proportional to the temperature.
Heat radiation from the human body can be measured by special infrared sensors – the principal components of infrared cameras. There are many different types and models of infrared cameras in the world. Most of them are intended for technical application because of different spectral band and insufficient sensitivity.
