© EDP Srl, 2004 http://www.edpsrl.com Thyroid Gland Diseases Infrared thermography is a very good method for express and screening diagnostics of thyroid gland diseases. Temperature above the thyroid gland correlates with the functional condition of the organ. This fact allows using dynamic thermovisual examination for the control of the effectiveness of the therapy performed. Infrared thermography is a very suitable method, because it’s fast, reliable, non-contact and absolutely safe for patient and doctor. Infrared thermography has no limitations and may be successfully applied in babies, children and pregnant women.

In the case of diffuse thyrotoxicosis in the thermograms one can see a relatively homogenous area of increased temperature above the thyroid gland. The temperature gradient is more than 1,2°C and good correlates with the severity of the disease. © EDP Srl, 2004 http://www.edpsrl.com Diffuse Thyrotoxicosis Diffuse thyrotoxicosis.

In many clinical cases, we see thermal asymmetry, where the most affected lobe of the thyroid gland has a higher temperature. © EDP Srl, 2004 http://www.edpsrl.com Diffuse Thyrotoxicosis Diffuse thyrotoxicosis with enlarging of the isthmus and left lobe. Diffuse thyrotoxicosis with enlarging of the right lobe and lower part of the left lobe. Diffuse thyrotoxicosis with enlarging of the right lobe.

© EDP Srl, 2004 http://www.edpsrl.com Hypothyroidism In case of a poor functional activity of the thyroid gland, in thermograms we can detect a decrease of temperature above the gland. Hypothyroidism.

© EDP Srl, 2004 http://www.edpsrl.com Hypothyroidism The functional condition of the immune system depends heavely on the activity of he thyroid gland. That’s why in the case of hypothyroidism we usually detect some thermovisual symptoms of secondary T-cell immunodeficiency syndrome as a decreasing of temperature above the sternum. Hypothyroidism with immunodeficiency syndrome.
