3 Introduction Examined the feasibility of building a second weight room. Researched the possible benefits gained by building the second weight room. Health benefits of a weight room. Reduction of sedentary lifestyles. Stress reduction through weight room exercise.

4 Introduction Determined who would be primarily using the weight room. Student athletes versus non student-athletes. Find a design for the weight room. Depending on who would be the focus on the weight room. Researched the total cost of undergoing this project. Also find ways to reduce any costs like the reuse of old equipment.

5 Criteria What are the benefits to building a second weight room? Are Hamline Students interested in a second weight room? Will this project be affordable? What are the current problems with the weight room? Will Hamline students use the weight room?

6 Methods Researched the following: Weight room design. Cost of a new weight room. Health benefits from active lifestyles. Sedentary lifestyle. Reduction of sedentary lifestyles. Health of college students. Conducted a survey with thirty seven Hamline students.

7 Research Results Active lifestyles can result in better performance in classes. Reduction of stress can be the result of a more active lifestyle. Reducing stress also reduces the use of unhealthy stress relievers like eating and sleeping. The maximum cost for a top of the line weight room would cost fifty thousand dollars. This overall price can be reduced through the reuse of equipment in the original weight room. There is a demand from the students for a second weight room.

11 Conclusion There is support for a second weight room by the Hamline students. The Maximum cost for the weight room would be $50,000 but can be easily reduced. There are benefits to the building of the weight room regarding student health. Stress reduction. Reduction of unhealthy stress relievers. Increased active lifestyles and reduction of sedentary lifestyles.

12 Recommendation Build the second weight room focused on students and not student-athletes. Reuse equipment from the current weight room and buy the new equipment for the student athletes in the current weight room. Encourage students to use the new weight room constantly and make it a positive place for students.
