1 A day in the life of the Ancient Egyptians/ Social Class “what’s somebody like YOU??? Doing in a place like this….(says the Nobles to the Craftsman….)”

2 Learn about the daily lives of ancient Egyptians from every social class. Life varied for people based upon where they were in the social order, and students will study how people from each class lived and what their daily lives entailed.

3  Discuss social class and class systems; in Ancient Egyptian Society; and the importance each person plays in the well run- Superpower society  Participate in class discussion activities related to what careers/ jobs people today have; talk about specifics of what they do ex. Fireman, NFL Player  Use research skills (computer time) to work in small groups to complete a scavenger hunt activity about ancient Egyptian social classes/occupations  Work in small groups or individually to complete creative projects illustrating the daily life of a person from one of the social classes/occupations they have studied  create a daily schedule/ calendar for each occupational person)  Present their creative projects to the class.  Complete a written response or chosen activity related to social classes and class systems.

7 Scavenger Hunt Activity: computer based activity; uses pictures/ game-like/ must learn the information but fun to play and scavenger hunt can act as a “study aid” (manipulate worksheet based on the needs of the students) 1) Focus on one Social Class rather than 7 2) Use Pictures to explain categories 3) Allow plenty of time to complete 4) Offer texts or computer to find information

9 If you could be anyone except the pharaoh, who would you choose to be and why? Be sure to explain the advantages and disadvantages a person with this social status and job would have had in ancient Egypt ….. Students can write a written response Verbally respond to question to teacher Draw a cartoon/ visual example/ skit/ poem/ song *must be able to explain the advantages/disadvantages in any of the avenues they choose- keeps students accountable

10  Write or perform a skit/ scene showing typical day for class/ occupation  Compose a song about daily life  Write a poem about daily life  Create a schedule/ calendar explaining what a typical day/ week would be like

11  Extra time to complete the scavenger hunt  Change the format of the worksheet to be in pictures/ uncomplicated it/ provide textbooks to find information or computer  Assignment options: allow for child to choose  Classroom comfort, allow time in class to work on assignment and brainstorm with peers
