2 Why Costa Rica? Four and a half million people ( About one million attend K-16 institutions) 96 % of the population knows how to read and write. 25% speak a second language. 52.000 square Km. The size of West Virginia. 0.003 of the land mass of the world However, it has 5% of the biodiversity of the world 25% of its territory is either a national park or a protected area.. 3 Why Costa Rica?(cont.) Abolished its army in 1948. 8% of the GDP goes into education. Most democratic country in Latin America Also the most environmentally friendly country. 9 Organization of the trip There must be an “Organizational Committee” that will spear-head the trip. Parents interested in letting their kid(s) go on the trip need to contact this committee. Committee needs to: Set up dates. Search for group’s flights quotes Set up a payment timeline for participants BCHS Costa Rica-June 20149
