3 Grand Canyon A steep sided canyon that was created by the Colorado River. Theodore Roosevelt was one man that found this place to be quite beautiful and made sure that it maintained preserved. It is now part of the Grand Canyon National Park located in Flagstaff, AZ.

5 Hoover Dam Located on the Colorado River between the states Nevada and Arizona o Black Canyon is the specific spot of the Hoover Dam Constructed in the 1930’s to prevent flooding aswell as provide irrigation and hydroelectric power to states of California and Arizona Originally known as the Boulder Dam but renamed in 1947 in honor of our 31 st president Herbert Hoover 726 feet high and 1,244 feet long The Dam was one of the largest man-made structures in the world during the time of its construction (history.com)

7 Hubbell Trading Post The meeting ground for two cultures, the Navajo and the settlers Created in the late 19 th century Land was purchased by John Lorenzo Hubbell in 1878 o Created the post right after the Navajo were allowed back on their land from New Mexico, ending what was known as the “Long Walk of the Navajo” Located in Gando, Arizona and was declared a National Historical Landmark in 1960

9 Lowell Observatory Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona Established in 1894 o One of the oldest observatories in the United States The Telescope that was originally used is still used today for public education Founded by astronomer Percival Lowell

11 Strawberry Schoolhouse Built in 1884 for the people living in Strawberry Valley The oldest still standing one room school houses in Arizona Built for the many settlers that were moving into the Strawberry Valley in search for gold Closed just 26 years later due to only having a small amount of students but was reopened in 1916
