Philippians 3:8-11 What Paul desired is the same thing we should desire. To not only know about the resurrection, but to know the power of the resurrection.

His personal ministry provided proof He was God’s Son He often tied Himself to the Father – Jn.10:31-38 Many were convinced – Jn.1:49; Matt.14:33; 16:16; Jn.9:35,38; 11:27 These things are written that we might believe Jn.20:30,31 It was the crowning proof of His Sonship It declared Him to be God’s Son – Rom.1:1-4

The gospel is the “Good News” of salvation The gospel consists of three things: Facts to be believed – 1 Cor.15:1-8; Acts 2:22-33 Commands to be obeyed – Rom.6:3,4 Promises to be received – Rom.8:11 The gospel couldn’t be preached in fullness until AFTER the resurrection

Jesus is the foundation of the church He is the ONLY foundation – Matt.16:18; 1 Cor.3:11 The apostles weren’t to preach Him as Christ until AFTER His resurrection – Matt.16:20; Lk.9:21,22; Matt.17:9 Jesus indicated the church would not be built until AFTER His resurrection Matt.16:18; cf.Acts 2:22-36

Paul hoped to attain unto the resurrection of the dead It gives us promise – Acts 17:30,31; 1 Cor.6:14; 2 Cor.4:14 If Christ be not raised, we have no hope 1 Cor.15:13-19

The promise made to Abraham is fulfilled because of it Gen.12:3; Acts 3:25,26; 13:29-33 Remission of sins and hope made possible by it Acts 5:30,31; Rom.4:23-25 This was the hope of Israel and the world Acts 26:22,23

Phil.3:8-11– “8 Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ, 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith: 10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death; 11 if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead.”
