1 How to Change Your Oil By Ben Wirjosemito

2 Materials Gather all materials Having them close by is important Oil pan, funnel and socket wrench Newspaper/cloth (for spills)

3 Preparations Pop the hood of the car Open oil filter cap Locate and loosen the drain plug at bottom of oil pan

4 Draining Loosen Drain plug counter clockwise using socket wrench Be sure to use exact size Clean off oil gasket

5 Changing Filter Locate oil filter assembly (refer to manual if can’t find) Remove filter Remove rubber gasket from filter

6 Installing New Filter Remove packaging from new filter Rub new oil on rubber gasket Replace the drain plug on the oil pan. (finger tight)

7 Wrapping It Up Secure the new filter onto the engine. (do not cross threads) Clean up any spillage or residue Make sure you tighten filter as much as it says in the manual

8 New Oil Add new oil through the fill hole and a funnel. Amount needed is in owner’s manual Close the fill hole and remove any tools from the engine. Close hood.

9 HORRAY! Oil should be changed and maintained every 3000 miles or 3 months. To check, use the dipstick first thing in the morning while the car has been sitting cold for a while. This way, the oil is settled in the pan and more accurate to measure.
