Energy managers must constantly keep track of the progress of all conservation activities and periodically inform the EMT. 5. Role of Energy Manager Energy management tasks are frequently assigned as additional duties to a junior engineer. Energy managers usually do not have staff of their own; therefore, they must rely on staff from various base organizations to perform specific conservation tasks. Because of resource constraints and limited authority, energy managers must gain strong support from top management. Role of Energy Manager The energy manager’s job is to assist management and sub organizations of the industry on all matters concerning – energy conservation and awareness, – fuel management, – and the use of alternative energy sources. The energy manager must – understand the required duties, – organize an energy program, – and determine what resources are available.
