2 Content: English Grade: 4 th Grade Summary: The purpose of this instructional power point is to allow students to understand when they have used a double negative in a sentence. It also helps with their grammar. Learning Objective: Given a sentence that contains a double negative, the students will be able to accurately create a substitution sentence that could be used instead. Content Standard: Enhanced speaking and sentence forming Accomplishment: Understand the wrong use of words in sentence and determine the correct use.

3 GRAMMAR THE CORRECT WAY A basic correct sentence contains a subject a and verb. Lacking one or the other may turn the sentence into a fragment, a run-on sentence, and lack of subject-verb agreement. Using incorrect words may even turn your sentence into a double negative sentence.

5 INCORRECT! THIS SENTENCE IS INCORRECT BECAUSE IT LACKS THE PROPER STRUCTURE FOR A SENTENCE.

6 OOPS! HERE’S WHERE YOU WENT WRONG THIS SENTENCE IS WRONG. JUST BECAUSE YOU BREAK THE CONTRACTION, DOES NOT MEAN THE SENTENCE IS CORRECT.
