4 Reading is one of the language skills. The skills of Language have interrelation. Reading is in association with writing, listening and speaking abilities.

5 What are the types of written language that may exist? Brainstorm for a few minutes and then we will share.

9 Strategies of reading comprehension Train Learners to identify the purpose in reading Learners need to read in order to get what they are looking for Skimming Quickly running one’s eyes across a whole text; gives one chance to predict the purpose of the passage. Scanning information in the passage Quickly searching for some particular pieces of information in the text.

10 Activity A - Skim across the passage in 50 Seconds and guess its purpose.

11 Types of reading a Teacher can expose to the Learners: Oral reading Silent reading : a) Intensive reading: - It is a classroom-oriented activity. - Learners focus on grammatical forms, expressions and terms, sentence structure and other details. - It has the purpose of understanding literal meaning

12 Extensive reading: -it is carried out to achieve a general understanding of a usually long text (books, long article or essay etc) -It is sometimes performed outside of class time.

13 B- Intensive reading practice: Look through the reading and find: Ten verbs in the first two paragraphs (Gr 1) Ten verbs in the last two paragraphs (Gr 2) Five adjectives in the first two paragraphs (Gr 3) Five adjectives in the last two paragraphs (Gr4) Five adverbs in the last two paragraphs (Gr 5) Five prepositions in the first two paragraphs (Gr6) Five prepositions in the last two paragraphs (Gr 7) Five conjunctions in the first two paragraphs (Gr8)
