4 The Wonderful World of Student Affairs Residence Life -Student Development -Crisis Management & Response - Staff Supervision & Selection - Judicial Hearing Officer* depends on institution Student Life/Activities - Experience in student affairs program planning, event management contract negotiation and budget administration, including experience working with programming boards. Strong student orientation and excellent interpersonal skills, including demonstrated effectiveness advising students Judicial Affairs/Student Conduct -interpretation, investigation and administration of the Student Community Stands and other policies and procedures related to student behavior Rec/ Wellness Center -Develop holistic health care plans working with students in an educational setting to assist with their health awareness/education

5 The Wonderful World of Student Affairs Multicultural Affairs - increase the knowledge and awareness of the campus community pertaining to diversity, social justice, cultural pluralism, and inclusiveness Career Services Lead and support the Career Services team to provide a high level of customer service to our students and to achieve a successful placement rates that meet or exceed our accreditation standards. Work with other departments to build partnerships, and will also build effective relationships with local and regional businesses, organizations, and community partners to identify a steady pipeline of employment opportunities for students. Health Center -Student Health Services is here to make sure your mind, body, and spirit are in the best shape they can be. Our goal is to transform you into your own best health advocate.- Widener University- Student Health Services Student Center/Union - Manage assigned resources to provide space, services and equipment for campus activities, and coordinate the activity needs of student, faculty, staff and community users

7 Activity 1- Brainstorm Current Position Transferrable Skills Let’s brainstorm our transferrable skills

8 Utilizing Campus Resources and Relationships Internship Shadow for a day Volunteer Create new projects Connect with your current office

9 The ABC’s of Transitioning Step 1- Identify the office(s) you want to transition to Step 2- Research the office and position you want Step 3- Highlight your transferrable skills that will help you with the new position Step 4- Speak with your supervisor about your goals of transitioning Step 5- Intern, Volunteer with the office for events, etc.

10 Activity 2- Transition Role Play Use the ABC’s of Transitioning to Role Play!! Example- “I work for the Office of Residence Life, and I want to transition to the Office of Student Engagement. I need to…” Pick 2 positions Brainstorm and then let’s share!
