2 -er -is added to the end of a verb ( 动词 ) to mean someone who or a person who

3 Examples: Someone who dances is a dancer Someone who travels is a traveler

4 Examples: Someone who teaches is a teacher Someone who sings is a singer

8 Spelling Reminder: With most words, we just add –er. Examples: teach ---- teacher paint---- painter

9 Spelling Reminder: If the word ends in e, we remove the final e before adding –er. Examples: dance ---- dancer bake---- baker

10 Spelling Reminder: If the word has one syllable or one vowel, double the last consonant before adding –er. Examples: run ---- runner swim---- swimmer
