Online student publishing program http://www.lulujr.com/teachers.php Quickly and easily create hardcover books from your students’ very own stories!

Easy and free to create an account Begin your project by entering your class information.

Once your account is created and your project is started… Upload.pdf documents to use as pages in your book. (Scan pages of student stories as.pdf, then upload). Students can use the project ID (automatically generated when the project is started) to create pages directly online. Once the book is complete, they can be printed in hardcover book form (for a fee), and mailed to you.

How can this benefit a 3 rd grade classroom? Students will be excited to write a story, knowing it will be a “real” book. By writing a story, students will be able to create characters, develop a sequence of events, and bring the story to a close – all in a fun way. Allows teachers to easily incorporate technology into an ELA lesson plan.

Activity Idea… Narrative Paragraph Students will be given a worksheet to help brainstorm an idea. The worksheet will include prompts such as, “Event,” “Where,” “When,” and “Details.” Once the worksheet is filled out, students will use those ideas to create a narrative paragraph describing the event they chose. Once the paragraph is completed, students will use www.Lulujr.com and their paragraph to create a story book with pictures, to be printed in hardcover.
