Greenhouse Program

Seasonal Bedding Plant Program Winter growing – March/April sales – Easter lilies, Bulbs, Gerbera daises Winter/Spring growing – May sales – Flowering annuals – Garden vegetables Summer growing – September sales – Mums Fall growing – December sales – Poinsettias – Holiday greens

Hydroponic Produce Program Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) system for the production of: – Lettuce – Greens – Basil – Strawberries Dutch Bucket system for the production of: – Tomatoes – Cucumbers – Peppers – Eggplant – Cabbage

Summer Session/Community Garden Centralized garden containing plots for schools and summer session classes. Therapy gardens for students to visit. Themed gardens for student projects. Supplemental vegetable production for hydroponic program.

Systems iGrow environmental controller Heat retention/shade curtain Water storage cisterns Hydroponic produce production On-demand fertilizer system Hanging basket growing Plant propagation Outdoor growing

iGrow 1400 from Link 4 A microprocessor based system that controls: – Vents – Heat – Lights – Heat/Shade curtain – Weather overrides – Alarms System is networkable allowing remote access.

Heat Retention and Shade Curtain Retractable insulation and shade system. Reduce heating costs by up to 50%. Reflects sunlight reducing temps in the summer. Provides a cooler environment for students to work.

Rain Water Storage Storage capacity of 5000 gallons. Recovers rain water from greenhouse roof. Expected rainfall to produce over 6000 gallons of water per month.

On-Demand Fertilizer System Makes possible soil drench applications of plant growth regulators and treatments for soil pathogens. Three injectors allows specific blends to be used for different crops. Parallel clear water and fertilizer systems. Utilizes Dosatron injectors to mix concentrated fertilizer into the water stream.

Hanging Basket Production For the overhead production of hanging baskets. Significantly increases space for production of high-value annual crops. Water is delivered directly to pots through emitters via an automated system.

Plant Propagation This will allow students to grow crops from seed or from cuttings. In-house propagation reduces costs of buying plants. Allows students to experience novel ways plants reproduce. Students understand propagation technology and protocols. A good system to setup research projects with students and university collaborations.

Outdoor Growing Increase production capacity. Increase quality of certain crops. Utilizes micro irrigation (drip tubes and tape). Fully automated with plants receiving only the amount of water they need. Field is covered with landscape fabric to eliminate weed growth.

Integrated Pest & Disease Management Use of Bio Control agents: – Predatory insects and mites – Entomopathogenic nematodes, fungi, and microbes – Microbial exclusionist agents – Plant biostimulants Use of products approved by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI). Limited applications of general use chemical pesticides and plant growth regulators.

Bio Controls Utilizing naturally occurring predators of greenhouse pests. Aphidius wasps for aphidsAmblyseius, Orius, and nematodes for thrips, gnats, and shore flies Phytoseiulus for spider mites Encarcia and Eretmocerus for whitefly

OMRI products Fungicides – Rootshield – Cease – MilStop – Actinovate – Camelot O Insecticides – SuffOil-X – Molt-X – M-pede – Nuk em

Plant Growth Regulators Used to increase branching, reduce stem stretching, and produce more flowering uniformity.
