2. Infinitives An infinitive is the most basic form of a verb in Spanish. It will always end in –ar, -er, or –ir. It literally means “to…..” For example, hablar = to speak, comer = to run, etc.

3. Me gusta… When you want to talk about what you like to do, use the phrase: Me gusta + infinitive

4. Me gusta… Me gusta bailar = I like to dance Me gusta leer = I like to read Me gusta nadar = I like to swim

5. What about the others? To talk about what others like to do, use: Te gusta + infinitive -Te gusta correr = You like to run -¿Te gusta correr? = Do you like to run?

6. What about the others? Le gusta + infinitive = he/she likes to… Le gusta nadar = - He/she likes to swim ¿Le gusta nadar? = -Does he/she like to swim?

7. Asking what you like to do To ask someone what they like to do, say: ¿Que te gusta hacer? …and answer with “me gusta + infinitive (what you like to do)”

8. Asking what you like to do OR you could say: ¿Te gusta + infinitive? -Example: ¿Te gusta correr? (Do you like to run?) This can be answered with: -Si, me gusta correr (Yes, I like to run) OR: -No, no me gusta correr (No, I don’t like to run) ***TWO “NO”s are needed– one to answer the question, the other to make it negative
