Distorted Images Now & Forever?

Recap  Salvation is a free gift  Eternity is forever  Nothing and nobody can separate us from God’s love  Nobody gets lost in the cracks

3 Reasons to Doubt  Not a Christian  Under Attack  Disobedience

The Reality of Salvation Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who through the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires 2Peter 1: 1-4 (TNIV)

2Peter 1: 1-4 (TNIV)  Faith – strong and welcome conviction  Equal standing – same kind for everyone  Divine power – no 2 nd class citizens In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form and you have been given fullness in Christ Colossians 2: 9-10 (NIV)  Priceless promises – we participate in the divine nature of God

Point to Ponder  What prevents me from recognising I’m not a second class citizen in God’s family?

The Responsibility of Salvation For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 2Peter 1: 5-7 (TNIV)

2Peter 1: 5-7 (TNIV)  Make every effort  Add to our saving faith Goodness Knowledge Self-control Perseverance Godliness Mutual affection Love  Increasing measure

Point to Ponder  Which of these qualities specifically do I need in increasing measure?

The Result of Salvation For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if any of you do not have them, you are nearsighted and blind, and you have forgotten that you have been cleansed from your past sins. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 2Peter 1: 8- 11(TNIV)

2Peter 1: 8-11(TNIV)  Effective & Productive Knowledge of Jesus  Rich welcome Jesus’ sacrifice is sufficient The Holy Spirit has the power to keep us Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life Jude 21 (NIV)

Point to Ponder  Is my relationship with God strong enough to believe that He is able to keep and sustain me ?
