4  Write the title of your presentation  Write down 3 points - example below  use bullets points or numbers etc. e.g. Title of presentation: Health and Safety 1. Health & Safety at work Act 1974 (Intro) 2. Risk assessment for safety 3. Employees to safeguard staff

5 Health and Safety – Example  The basis of British health and safety is the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.  The Act sets out the general duties which employers have towards employees.

6 Health and Safety – Main body  The main requirement for employers is to carry out a risk assessment.  Employers with five or more employees need to record the significant findings of the risk assessment.

7 Health and Safety- Conclusion It is the employers responsibility to:-  Protect the health, safety and welfare of employees and to safeguard others, especially the public who may be exposed to risks from work activity.  For further information about health and safety ring HSE’s Tel: 0845 345 0055.

8 Mind-maps can also be used to plan your presentation. They can show examples of the different subject areas you will be covering.

9  Maintain eye contact  Voice not to loud  Smile/look at the audience  Use humour

10  How much time do you have? e.g 15/20mins  Rehearse the presentation to get the timing right

11  Do not read from your notes  Do not pace back and forth nervously  Make copies of your presentation for the audience so they can take notes

12  Powerpoint  Use pictures/colour  Videos  Real objects  Do not bore the audience

13 No gum ! Turn cell phone off ! Dress professionally Stick to time allotted - 15/20 minutes
