3 The Voyage Award gives Trefoil members the chance to create their own adventures

4 Bronze Silver Gold

5 How it works A certificate & metal badge will be awarded on completion of each level When starting on a higher level individuals should try something new or extend the skill/activity done previously An individual must complete the bronze before starting silver & silver before starting gold Each level should take at least 12 months to complete (Bronze - 6 months)

7 A record of activities should be kept – using a log book or file containing information, photos, leaflets, samples of work, details of hours spent etc

8 You will need to find a Mentor Someone who is interested in your subject

9 The Mentor’s Role Your Mentor need not be a Trefoil Guild member but must be someone who has knowledge of or interest in your chosen subject Your Mentor will agree your plan with you and offer any advice Your Mentor must take an interest in your activity and see that you carry it out as best as you can While you are carrying out your activity he or she will keep in touch to discuss your progress When your task is finished your Mentor will sign the appropriate page in your record book and may provide ‘confirmation of completion’ for your evidence folder You may have a different Mentor for each of the sections or you may have the same Mentor for more than one

13 ServiceVolunteer: Volunteer as a helper with a charity, church, youth organisations, charity shops Become a regular visitor /befriender in a residential home, hospital, night shelter or for an elderly or disabled person. Do some conservation work for RSPB,Woodland or Wildlife Trust Time requirements over a minimum of 12 months are: Bronze: 40 hours Silver: 60 hours Gold: 80 hours Fundraising: Make items to sell for charity Make items to sell for charity Find out about and/or apply for grants Participate in a sponsored event Guiding/Scouting: Run or assist in a unit Take on a new role Find an opportunity to promote Guiding or Scouting Find an opportunity to work with a different unit/section

15 Explore my World Time Requirements over a minimum of 12 months are: Bronze: 20 hours Silver: 40 hours Gold: 60 hours Local: Walk footpaths, assist clearing Raise awareness of local issues Support local people eg meals on wheels, soup kitchen etc Help with environmental issues eg take action, raise money, awareness, Learn about local politics Global: Travel to a foreign country Cover a long distance path Go somewhere you haven’t been before Find out about different cultures Get involved with a global charity eg fundraise, sponsor a child, school Find out about global issues eg war Take action

17 Time requirements over a minimum of 12(6 for Bronze) months are: Bronze: 40 hours Silver: 60 hours Gold: 80 hours Mind: Try something new Get a qualification Develop Skills Achieve a dream, take up a new hobby eg cross stitch, baking, a new hobby eg cross stitch, baking, Body: Get fitter Take up a new physical activity Explore relaxation therapies Heritage: Explore family history, history of your house or where you live Personal past/future Record own Guiding/Scouting history or history of both movements Myself

19 Teamwork Plan: Fundraise for an event/challenge Take an organisational role in a project team Sit on a committee Organise an event Time requirements : Bronze: 10 hours duration - plan & participate in one event of at least 2 hours Silver: 20 hours duration - plan & participate in one or more events of at least 4 hours Gold: 30 hours duration - plan & participate in one or more events of at least 8 hours Participate: Take part in - an event with other members doing this award - in an existing project - in an expedition Join a sports team or other group activity Participate in a Guiding/Scouting/ Trefoil event Take on a specialised role

21 Time requirements Bronze: 20 hours Silver: 40 hours Gold: 60 hours Learning a new skill: Learn: - to maintain a car, makaton, drive, Go on a First Aid course,take a drama workshop, join a drawing,painting or pottery course, put together flat pack furniture Improving an existing skill: Join a singing circle, improve your cooking skills, go on an IT course, polish up your French or other language, get a Girlguiding or Scouting qualification Sharing a skill with others: Share a hobby with your Trefoil Guild, teach a friend or Brownies or Guides to knit, write an online blog, join a reading group, teach children to dance, write an article for the Trefoil magazine about your skill Skills

22 What you need to do: Download an application form from the Trefoil Guild website – or ask your chairman for a form Complete this form & send to The Trefoil Guild Office, together with a cheque for £6.00, made payable to ‘The Trefoil Guild’. This amount of £6.00 covers the cost of the Handbook, & the Bronze badge & certificate once the level has been achieved

24 The next step: Choose your activities The lists under each section are suggestions only Find a mentor Someone who is interested in, or knowledgeable about your chosen activity Show your mentor your record/log book This will give them an idea of the number of hours you need to spend on each activity
