2 61% 53% User demands IT risks Loss of control
TechReady 18 4/17/2017 User demands IT risks Blend work and personal tasks and devices 61% Loss of control Risk of data loss or theft Bring their own technology to work or use it for work 53% “Information workers will erase the boundary between enterprise & consumer technologies” - Forrester The situation: We are all bearing witness to the “Bring Your Own” movement, and it’s not just limited to people bringing their personal phones and tablets to work, expecting to use them to be productive. Employees are increasingly blending the use of consumer technologies to do work as well. Information workers are typically early adopters of work and personal technologies, and there is a growing desire to utilize familiar, simple consumer technologies in the workplace. To better serve information workers, CIOs need to find ways to introduce easy to use tools that are familiar to them in a manner that is secure, compliant with internal governance controls and simple management. According to industry analysts (Forrester), “We’re just at the beginning of a long industry effort to better integrated the digital domains of information workers and their employers.” – Source: Forrester Some supporting market trends and statistics: Among 727 Fortune 1000 IT professionals in North America responding to a Sophos survey were asked whether their companies permit the use of cloud-based file sharing services 84 percent responded yes. Then when asked, "Does your organization currently encrypt data that you share between the cloud and your work mobile device?" 65 percent responded no. And to the question, "Do you feel secure sharing or collaborating corporate content between the cloud and your mobile devices?" only 38 percent responded yes. Read more: Sophos: Most companies permit Dropbox, few companies like it - FierceEnterpriseCommunications 61% of information workers blend work and personal usage across the set of devices they use for work. And they blend work and personal in 66% of the software they use as well. (Source: Forrester – Info Workers Will Erase the Boundary Between Enterprise and Consumer Technologies, August 30, 2012) Bringing their own technology to work or using it for work 53% of global info workers report using their own PC or smartphone, an unsupported web or Internet site, or an unsupported software program to help them do their jobs better (Source: Forrester – Info Workers Will Erase the Boundary Between Enterprise and Consumer Technologies, August 30, 2012) Mobile devices account for 31% of WW internet traffic. In Q1 CY2014, up from only 4% in (Source: Walker Sands Mobile Traffic reports Sands-Mobile-Traffic-Report) This metric also speaks to the need for the ability to access resources for work and be productive from anywhere What is lacking in many of the solutions available in this space today falls into the areas of organizational control: Corporate data is now housed in an external system Loss of control – if an employee leaves an org, corporate data still lives externally (e.g. how are content lifecycle policies applied to this external data?) Data loss, both inadvertent or intentional – corporate policies around information governance are more difficult or impossible to enforce Data theft – no control over the security implementations of 3rd party solutions or access mechanisms Compliance and regulatory issues – IT cannot meet compliance mandates, difficulties in eDiscovery or activity investigation, inappropriate or illegal dissemination of regulated data, integrity loss Compliance & regulatory issues Sources: Forrester, Osterman Research © 2014 Microsoft Corporation. 3 Key requirements for Enterprise File Sync & Share
TechReady 18 4/17/2017 Key requirements for Enterprise File Sync & Share Anywhere, anytime access to work and personal files Seamless integration with familiar collaboration tools Enterprise-grade security, compliance, and IT control The real value of cloud storage comes to life only when it’s integrated with the tools people use to communicate, create and collaborate such as Microsoft Office It needs to be accessible anywhere and anytime from the multiple devices that people use in their personal and professional life It needs to be backed by enterprise-grade IT control, security and compliance That’s why OneDrive for Business which is part of the Office 365 suite brings this together for all users. **Seamless integration with the tools people use to communicate, create and collaborate © 2014 Microsoft Corporation. 4 One place for everything
So what’s Microsoft’s solution for these problems? It’s OneDrive for Business. And the way to think about OneDrive for Business is along three lines. One, it’s my personal file store for all of my work files. So I get 1 TB of storage (moving to unlimited in 2015). I get the ability to take those documents offline and work on them, and be productive when I’m not connected, and be confident that when I’m connected again my changes are synced and available across the different devices that I use. It’s also the place where I can collaborate with others. Not only can I easily share documents with people both within or outside my organization, I can work on and collaborate with others on those specific documents right within Microsoft Office. Rich integration with Office is one of the great differentiators for OneDrive for Business. And lastly, OneDrive for Business is a trusted, enterprise-grade service. It’s backed by SharePoint and Office 365. So you can get all of the benefits of security, management and administrative controls that you would expect in a service from Microsoft. File sync share is increasingly becoming a crowded/competitive space We must win this workload not to open the door for competitors such as google/amazon get foot in the door. We’re committed to win this space by offering a winning product that: Users will love IT will trust Developers will extend and build spectrum of solutions on top of. The way we’re doing this is converging consumer & commercial stacks to provide the best of both worlds: Great user experience – intuitive and frictionless for end users, with extensive cross device support 1TB of storage across commercial and consumer, removing additional limits Differentiating with deep Office integration: Rich office integration and co-authoring intelligent search and discovery experiences with Delve and the Office Graph Document conversations with Yammer Modern attachments Enterprise grade platform for security, management and compliance– Leverage power of SharePoint and Office 365 to provide enterprise grade capabilities O365 – SLA, industry standards, data centers … SharePoint – document management, workflow, eDiscovery, encryption.. Developer– our goal is to enable partners to build a spectrum of solutions on top of OneDrive whether its an LOB app within the O365 context, a workflow around files (such as docusign) , an integration with salesforce, or a standalone solution that needs a place to save user data We’ve introduced the files API as part of the O365 preview APIs: designed for openness and flexibility, Enabling a consistent development platform Powering a world of devices We’re now working on a converged API set across OneDrive and OneDrive for Business Anywhere anytime access One place for everything Real-time collaboration Enterprise-grade

5 Anywhere anytime access
Microsoft Office 4/17/2017 1 TB storage (moving to unlimited) PC, tablet, and phone Anywhere anytime access 1 TB represents effectively unlimited storage for the majority of users and we’re moving to unlimited. 6 Real-time collaboration
Microsoft Office 4/17/2017 Simple sharing Native Office integration Talking Points Google Drive for Work, Amazon WorkDocs and Dropbox lack integration with Office and Office Online. To edit files Dropbox users must download files and manually upload them once edits have been made. Google and Dropbox do not support automatic version control of files. Dropbox and Box do not support co-authoring. Box allows users to comment and set deadlines for documents. Dropbox users cannot comment on files or folders. Also, when editing the same content, Box and Dropbox will duplicate the copy with the conflicts. Co-author and versioning Real-time collaboration Social conversations Search and Discovery © 2012 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. 9 The Sales Pitch I OneDrive for Business makes it easier for customers to get started in the cloud: OneDrive for Business with Office Online standalone offering: organizations can get started with a robust, full-featured file sync and share service that benefits from deep integration with Office and offers an easy way to add more of Office 365 when they are ready.    SharePoint Server 2013 SP1 administrative controls make it easy to get started with “files” in the cloud and provide the ability to "turn on" OD4B in the cloud alongside their existing SharePoint 2013 on-prem deployment.

10 The Sales Pitch II Secure accounts – Use OD4B when employees are purchasing their own Dropbox, Box, Amazon and /or Google storage accounts, to ensure your company’s content is managed and is in compliance with policies. Create Office 365 opportunities – OD4B is a great way to ease into Office 365 and reduce objections to cloud migration by decoupling the “files” workload from SharePoint. Emphasize the ability to add Office 365 easily when the customer is ready. Address compliance, security and management complexity concerns of BDMs and TDMs with an enterprise ready file sync and share solution which is just part of the broader Office 365 suite. Accelerate deployment and migration – ODFB is now included in FastTrack and Office Deployment funds to help customers to migrate from competing solutions or quickly plan their deployment with Microsoft and partner support.

11 OD4B is included in every Office 365 Plan

12 Syncing Issues Have improved stability and reliability of the existing sync client (groove.exe) and added new file-level auto-repair and improved error handling. Significant reduction (40%+) in sync-related support calls No new functional investments going forward Developing a single next-gen sync client (NGSC) that allows users to connect to personal and one or more Business OneDrives. The next-gen sync client will be available in Q for Windows 7/8/10 and Mac It will introduce highly requested features such as selective sync and shared folders (for both PC and Mac).
