4 Benefits to Video Wall Users
Use of the full video wall (or any desired subset) Sharp and clear images No scaling or pixelation to content Proper aspect ratio presented on wall Fully compatible with Planar Video Walls: uses of advanced graphics in Planar displays (fewer cables and connections) Each PLI is internally redundant and two can be set to drive a wall to provide full redundancy PLI X Series PLI is a computer so it should be able to run video files like any computer. The particularity is that the PLI drives a very high definition desktop that spans across multiple outputs and multiple graphic cards. There is no warranty on how large the video image (running from an mpeg file) could be as the decoding software is not designed to handle the ultra-high definition of the PLI desktop. Typically, the PLI runs client application that retrieves data from network servers and displays information on the video wall. Like any computer equipped with multi-headed graphic cards, the desktop is extended throughout the array of displays. Thus the desktop spans seamlessly across the entire video wall. Software video players will only display within one graphics output (in some cases, within all outputs of one multi-head graphics card). Unlike other sources – computer and video – grabbed by the Indisys components (Gateways, MVIs and Hubs), the PLI will require no action from the operator to be displayed on the wall. When the system boots, the PLI desktop is automatically displayed on the wall, as a background for other source images that operators will create. Since each Multicrop board is able to display up to eight images (“crops”), and one of these is the PLI crop, it will be possible to display up to seven images per display on top of the PLI . Each PLI output can drive up to 4 FHD screens, or “4K” Planar’s Cube built-in processor can shares 4K video with other three cubes Or, Planar’s Matrix Quad Controller can split 4K image into four Output 2 drives right hand section Eight Planar FHD Displays Output 1 drives left hand section Two output PLI Each PLI output is daisy-chained throughout the part of wall covered The number of Cubes or Matrix screens that one PLI output can drive depends on the cube resolution (XGA, SXGA+, FHD) and the layout (2x2, 3x2, 2x3, etc…). each PLI output provides a “global resolution” of the wall area it covers. e.g. on example shown on previous slide, if cubes resolution is SXGA+ (1400 x 1050), each PLI output resolution will be 2800 x 2100 the maximum resolution is limited by… the EDID geometry limitations (4096x4096 maximum canvas) the usable DisplayPort bandwidth (i.e. total number of pixels per second) the actual capabilities of the graphics card (linked to video RAM, etc.) PLI is designed to guarantee a minimum frame rate of 25 Hz to ensure totally fluid rendition of the desktop. But this frame rate can be reduced to 15Hz in most cases. Confidential | Planar Systems

Just match your wall to the appropriate PLI-xx model This set up is where each PLI output is driving two displays in a column approach via a loop through at the cube display, or through the internal loop-through of the Matrix Quad Controller. For Cubes: The cubes must already have the “Big Picture” Option for this set up to work. The outputs of the PLI (circa 2014) have full-sized DisplayPort outputs, and so a DisplayPort-to-DVI adaptor needs to be ordered, along with the DVI cable between the adaptor and the cube display. For Matrix: If the single DisplayPort input on the Quad is not selected to be the input to the Matrix wall, any of the four individual HDMI inputs on the Quad can be used. The outputs of the PLI (circa 2014) have full-sized DisplayPort outputs, and so a DisplayPort-to-DVI adaptor needs to be ordered, along with the DVI cable between the adaptor and the cube display.
