New for 2014-2015 -Personal Financial Literacy Event Financial Literacy Exam and 1 Role Play -Financial Consulting Event Similar to Professional Selling – Cluster Exam & Presentation Meet with client – they want to purchase a New home in 12-18 months.- discuss credit score and financial situation to advise them how to proceed. 10

12. Professional Selling Events Professional Selling Topic: -Sales rep for a major electronics company. A large hospital is searching for wearable technology(ies) to help its workforce be and stay healthy. Participants will have a scheduled meeting with the hospital’s human resources manager to pitch the company’s products and price points. 12

13. Professional Selling Events Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling Event topic -Assume the role of a relationship manager for an international educational tourism company. A school system has requested a RFP to send 50 teachers and students to Costa Rica in the summer to learn about the ecosystem in Central America. You have a meeting with the Assistant Superintendent to present your company’s packages and price points. 13

14. Business Operations Research Events 2014-2015 Topic - Develop a plan to better serve a generational group. Work with an existing business/organization to research the business and its current relations with various generational demographic groups. Develop a plan to better reach one underserved group through a revised marketing mix or human relations strategy. 14

15. State CDC - 2015 Dallas, Texas February 25-27, 2014 15 Same as last year – Sheraton and Marriott Hotels Will register for the hotel when you register for State (similar to ICDC) -Firm Payment for registration and hotel will be made out to Texas DECA –Deadline Feb. 3rd

NEW this Year State CDC  NEW - Opening session begins at 8:00 pm Wednesday night  New - All competitive events will take place Thursday from 7:30 am -5:30 pm  New – Business session and Awards Session take place Friday (Voting Delegate seating begins at 8:30 am and ENDS at 9:00 am) 16 Begin on WEDNESDAY… End on FRIDAY

State CDC  CONTINUE On-line testing for all events requiring an exam – minimum score – 70 to advance  CONTINUE - All Written Events will be BROUGHT TO STATE REGISTRATION - (not mailed in 2 weeks in advance)  CONTINUE PENALTY POINTING will take place at State CDC  CONTINUE – LABELING OF FOLIO’S AND INSERTING EVALUATION SHEETS 17

State CDC  Entertainment Thursday night Casino Night and Photo Booths  Business Session and Closing Session Friday morning and conference will end around 3:00 pm Friday  Newly elected and current officers Will have Leadership Training session Friday evening and conclude by 3:00 pm Saturday 18

DECA Is… Leadership 19 Officer Elections Officer candidates will run at large at State CDC 6 Positions will be filled The candidate with the most points will be elected President and the remaining 5 winning candidates will be named Vice President Specific duties and titles for each Vice President will be decided during the training session that will follow on Friday and Saturday immediately following State CDC awards session (ex: Vice President of Operations; Vice President of Social Media)

Board Policy Minimum Test Scores at State The minimum test score at District will remain at 50 in order to advance BUT the minimum test score at STATE will remain at 70 in order to advance to ICDC. We must begin to expect more of our students if they are going to compete at the national level. 22

Board Policy State CDC Registration - The advisor for each chapter MUST pick up their own individual school registration packet and sign a form verifying they have read and understand the board policies governing the State CDC and competitive events. (no exceptions unless the advisor is not attending State CDC) 23
