Very caring, joyful, happy lady who loved her job more than anything in life. 5 Disabilities at the Center There are many kinds of different disabilities that you can find at this Rehab Center. Down Syndrome Aspergers Syndrome Tourette Syndrome Fragile X-Syndrome Physical Handicapped Mental Retardation Many more! 6 People with (DS) have an excess or redundancy, of genetic material in their cells, an excess of chromosome 21. Symptoms: Mild Mental Retardation, an upward slant to the eye, flattened facial profile, and small nose. 7 Asperger’s Syndrome Neurological condition on the autistic spectrum. Which is a slight learning disability. Symptoms: May have trouble understanding gestures, body language, and facial expressions. May have difficulty in eye contact, repetitive speech, and anxiety in social situations. 9 Mental Retardation Mental retardation is described as below-average general intellectual function with associated deficits in adaptive behavior that occurs before age 18. Cause: Can happen whenever. Such as prenatal, birth, any kind of accident. 10 How does the rehab help? By helping with physical therapy. Such as moving their arms, and legs everyday to keep them movable. Occupational Therapy works on their motor skills, social skills, and hands on activities for their everyday life. Counseling services works on their emotions, and helps them out in the future with jobs, education, and housing.
