4 New File Formats June 2010 Perret Office 2007 Transition 4 Documents, templates, worksheets, and presentations that you create in the 2007 Office are saved with new file-name extensions with an x or an m. For example, when you save a document in Word, the file now uses the.docx extension, instead of the.doc extension. The x signifies an XML file with no macros. The m signifies an XML file that does contain macros. Compatibility with

5 Compatibility with Previous Versions In order to use 2007 MS Office documents in Office XP, 2003, and 2000 you need to install Compatibility All High-Priority updates from Microsoft Update have to be installed before downloading the Compatibility Pack Compatibility Pack is free. To download it, go to microsoft.com website and type “compatibility pack” in the search box. The first link in Search List should be compatibility pack download. 9 Can I customize the Ribbon? The Ribbon is designed to help you quickly find the commands that you need to complete a task. Commands are organized in logical groups that are collected together under tabs. You can minimize the Ribbon to make more space available on your screen. You can move the Quick Access Toolbar to position it below or above the Ribbon. You can customize the Quick Access Toolbar to add buttons that represent the commands that you frequently use.
