II Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Piotra Firleja w Lubartowie PROJECT „ HOPSCOTCH. IN SEARCH OF VINTAGE GAMES ” ( 2008 - 2010 )

Division : Indoor games

The idea of the project „Hopscotch. In search of vintage games” is to draw the youth away from sitting in front of the computer and to discern that not only the virtual world is beautiful. In the first year of the enterprise, together with the school from Estonia we carried out a survey among those connected with the knowledge of vintage games (e.g. kapsle, palant). We got the biggest amount of information from elderly people, which is of great importance since one of the aims of the project is building up the intergeneration bonds. During the first visit to Poland, out of a huge database, we chose some games from both countries. All the activities we have undertaken are based on the values of friendship, respect, goodness, sincerity, love, trust and tolerance. The very project is propagated in the form of brochures, multimedia presentations in other schools in the town and in the local environment. The Partner Project Comenius enables the fulfilment of the cognitive aims assumed by the schools; it enables the students to develop the curiosity of the world, get to know other cultures, tolerance and cooperative skills in different circumstances. It teaches the existence in the contemporary world and international cooperation and allows the students to improve their language skills. Both the schools have great experience in cooperation and implementing both projects and other actions on the national and international stage. 4 Play with rubber - this is a game in which you are supposed jump and carry out some ‘jumping tasks’ Games are kind of activity and entertainment which have accompanied men since the beginning of human species. From anthropological point of view there is no culture whose members did not know games and plays. A game- it’s an entertainment activity with set rules with a few participants (rarely one person). A game is different From other pastimes because it has a set of defined rules it is also different from other defined activities we do every day because of its entertaining character Games involving being fit-games which are to check different aspects of human fitness e.g.agility, stamina, speed, stretching skills etc. games can be a good fun for children and at the same time can contribute to their psycho- physical development Wikipedia Number of participants 3 players or more Place- flat, even ground Props 4-5 meter piece of rubber tied at the ends Game improves physical agility and cleverness

Rules of the game : Before the start players decide who will be the first. Two children, standing opposite each other put on the rubber and place it around their ankles.Next they stretch the rubber so that they can create two tight rubber ropes. The third participant jumps on the rubber and follows the previously arranged set of exercises. * Jumps on the rubber while a player is standing parallelly to the rubber and is trying to land so that the rubber remains between his/her two feet * jumps with both feet first on the first line then on the second one. Next a player has to jump and turn in the air (180 degrees) and land with both feet on the second line. Finally he/she has to jump to the first line and jump to the ground.. * Jump with one leg landing on the first line and the other leg on the other line. Next a player has to jump and turn around in the air (180 degrees) and land in the same way but face towards the opposite direction * Jump on the second line but with catching in the air the first rubber and landing on the second line. Next, a player jumps back thus ‘releasing’ the first line Different altitudes of the rubber AnklesKneesThighsWaist pas

1. jumps from the parallel position so that rubber remains between player’s feet returning to the starting position

2. Jumps with both feet landing on particular lines a player can reach the next altitude-level only after completing 4 tasks. If he/she makes a mistake he loses his turn and in the next one he starts from the element which he failed to do earlier.

3. jump with one leg landing on the first line and the other leg on the other line returning to the starting position

4.Jump on the second line but with catching in the air the first rubber You can additionally make the game more difficult by standing with both feet very close together Of course we can play this game indoors, especially when the weather is not good but we recommend this game to be played outdoors
