3 I. Community Profile Inventory : Location Perspective 1. Location: The health of a community is affected by location, because placement of health service.

4 I. Community Profile Inventory : Location Perspective Variables relation to location: 1. Boundary of community: Serve as basis for measuring incidence of wellness and illness, and for determining spread of disease.

5 1. Boundary of community: - Community location. - Community boundary. - Physical size ( in square kilometers). - Local or folk name. - What smaller communities does it include ?

Location of health service: Use of health service depend on availability and accessibility. - Location of health institutions.( Primary health care centers - Hospitals - Rehabilitation centers - Mental health ). - Services of health institutions. - Location and services of major health institution outside the community.

7 3. Geographic feature: To identify possible problem. - Land use ( common areas ; Public and Private space ). - Open spaces ( play area - parks ). - Recreational facilities ( Pre - school ; school aged ; adolescent ; adult ; older adults ).

8 4. Climate: extremes of heat and cold affect health and illness. - Temperature average and precipitation. - What climatic feature affect health and fitness ?

9 5. Plants and Animals : ( Flora and Fauna ) To determine how presence and un presence of it can affect community health. Poisonous plant and disease carrying animals can affect community health. - Plants and animals possess possible threats to health.

Human-made environment : All human influence s on environment ( housing, type of industry,--- ). can influence level of wellness. - Types of industry. - Quality of housing. - Air pollution – water pollution – waste ; can influence the environment. - Public sewage – garbage – trash disposal. - Transportation – private ; public transportation.

11 II. Community Profile Inventory : Population Perspective Variables relation to Population: 1. Size : Number of population can affect the health of community. Increase number of population -------- Increase need in service as health service, education,,,,,,,, - Total population number. - Is the community urban ; suburban ; or rural community ?

12 2. Density: Number of people comparing with size of city, also affect the health of the community either population have low or high density. - What is the density of the population per square kilometers ?

13 3. Composition: To let us to determine which target group consider the major in the community to emphasize on it. - Age distribution – sex. - Marital status of the community members. - Occupations are represent and their percentage.

14 4. Rate of growth or decline : Community population change over time, to determine the cause of growth and decline to correct the deformity. - How has the population size changed over the past decade ? - What are the health implication of this changed ?

15 5. Culture differences : A community may be made of single culture group or it may be made up of many cultures or subcultures. The culture differences among these members will influence the health of the community. - What is the ethnic breakdown of population? - Do any of sub cultural gropes have unique health needs and practice ?

16 6. Social class: Refers to the ranking of groups within society by income, education, occupation, prestige, or a combination of these factors. - What percentage of population falls into each social class ? - What do class differences suggest for health needs and services ?

17 7. Mobility: Has a direct effect on the health of communities. - How frequently do members move within the community ? - Are there any specific populations ; such as migrant workers ; that are highly mobile ? - How does the pattern of mobility affect the health of community ?

18 III. Community Profile Inventory : Social System Perspective 1. Health system: - Vital statistics : mortality and morbidity rate ; health problem data. - Health facilities and agencies. - Health related planning groups. - Health manpower.

19 2. Educational system : - Public education facilities. - Private education facilities. - Educational services for special populations – adults ; disabled children and adults.

20 3. Communication system : - Newspaper ; radio ; TV.

21 ** Is there adequate communication among these systems which affects the community health ? Describe.
