1 Oral Presentation Plan ahead and Practice until you feel confident.

2 Be Ready  If you planned and practiced many times, you are able to relax in front of your audience.  If you are still anxious, take a few deep breaths before you begin your presentation.  Don’t be self-conscious. Don’t worry about your performance. Try to focus on your presentation.  Present as if you were simply speaking to your friends.

3 Assess Your Audience and Purpose  Define your presentation. For example, “In this presentation, I want to …. ”  Determine how much information you can offer in the allotted time.  Time yourself to be sure.

4 Use Cues to Orient your Audience  Explain what motivated you to find your topic and what made you ask the current research question.  Tell the thesis and forecast statements.  Support the thesis along with topic sentences and their details briefly.  Use transitions properly.  End with a summary of the main point you have made.  Use visuals, if possible, to have an effective presentation.

5 Rehearse Your Presentation  Rehearsal will help you feel confident.  You will get familiar with the material that you present.  You can check the time while rehearsing.

6 Present professionally TTry to make eye contact with your listeners in the room. UUse your hands to gesture as you would converse. Move them naturally. TTry to avoid vocal mannerism such as “like,” or “you know.” BBody language is also a kind of presentation tool. SSpeak loudly enough so that your listeners can hear you. Speak clearly and distinctively. DDress properly.
