What are aerosols ? Aerosol is a collection of particles suspended in the air, they range in size from 0.01 microns to several tens of microns.

Aerosols Sulphate aerosol Black carbon and Organic carbon Aerosol spray

Sources of aerosol Ocean Volcanic eruption dust storms forest, grassland fires, living vegetation sea spray. burning of fossil fuels biomass burning. nitrate fertilizers mineral dust from industrial activity Natural sources Anthropogenic sources

Radiative forcing from aerosols Aerosols can affect the climate by changing the way radiation is transmitted through the atmosphere.

Aerosol Forcing Direct radiative Indirect radiative forcing forcing

Aerosols – Direct forcing Aerosols reflect sunlight back into space, and reduce the amount of solar radiation that reaches the surface cause the Earth's surface temperature to cool down.

Aerosol - Indirect forcing Effect on Clouds properties  Aerosols contribute to cloud formation.  more aerosol, the smaller the cloud droplets tend to be.  clouds with more but smaller drops reflect 90% of radiation back to space.
