3 Overall Objective To develop and test a theory-based CD-ROM multi-media intervention for increasing physical activity and preventing obesity in 4 th grade children Intervention included three components: CD-ROM Classroom Family

4 Study Design & Findings  Randomized controlled design (N=202) Two treatment & two control schools Pre-post survey, accelerometry, BMI Treatment X Gender interactions BMI z-score & % body fat decrease for girls Increase in light physical activity for girls

5 Discussion and Future Directions Extend to include diet & replicate Enhance using entertainment education research Link to environment & behavior Extend to other settings (primary care)
