Fakulti Kejuruteraan Elektrik INTRODUCTION Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Formed in 2004 Previous accreditation for engineering programs : PSD (1957)  IEM (1959)  BEM (1967)  LAN(1996) IEM Employers from industry and academe EAC BEM LAN/MQA PSD 3

4 Primary responsibilities :

Monitor local and foreign accredited engineering programmes. Oversee the development and operation of accreditation and mutual recognition of programmes with other countries Where necessary make recommendations to the Board. Foster the dissemination of developments and best practices in engineering education. Advice the Board on matters related to engineering education

GOVERNED BY THE REGISTRATION OF ENGINEERS ACT 1967 (Revised 2002) All graduate engineers must REGISTER with BEM to practice engineering Programme must be accredited to join public service Professional Engineer - a graduate engineer who has passed the Professional Assessment Examination
