5 Library Catalogue: Coverage  Used to discover the location and availability of physical and some electronic resources:  Books  Dissertations (undergraduate and postgraduate)  DVDs, CDs and other software  Periodicals (from newspapers to scholarly journals) Note: The Library Catalogue has a new user interface, which should make it much easier to use!

6 Access: The University Portal https://portal.gre.ac.uk/ The Portal is a hub that gives you access to a wide range of systems and services, including: WebCT Library Catalogue Library Databases Login using your Username and Password Access problems? Use the Help link

12 The Refined Result Set Number of hits: 24 Further refinement options: For example: Collection = Electronic Books

13 The Search Refinement Process  You can go through several iterations of the refinement process. Add as many steps as you need:  strategic management = 514  Plus Subject: international business enterprises management = 24  Plus Collection: Electronic Books = 2  Bread crumbs detail the route, and allow you to return to earlier stages of the search:  This method of searching is also used with the more sophisticated Library databases (Business Source Premier, Emerald, etc.)

15 ALWAYS Reserve Unavailable Items  Reservations  Books and other resources that are currently on loan or located at one of the other campus libraries should be reserved: Input your ten digit Student ID number (do not include the dash before the last digit)

16 ‘More Search Options’ Advanced search options: Detailed keyword searches; Specific Author and/or Title etc. All of the options may be used in any combination

17 My Library Account I The link to your Library Account that appears at the top of every page within the Catalogue Summary details Summary of any outstanding charges: fines for overdue items; invoices for lost items

18 My Library Account II Use the tick box(es) to select the item(s) to be renewed Review the status of outstanding reservations; cancel if necessary
