1 UT Fleet Safety Program

2 Two-Step Process 1.Risk Management conducts driver record checks and is the contact for all accidents. 2.Safety & Health coordinates defensive driver training for employee (online/classroom).

3 Risk Management Insurance Currently, departments are responsible for $1,000 deductible (a dedicated fund for deductibles is forthcoming) Inter-University Council of Ohio (IUC) covers next $900,000 All accidents need to be reported to Risk Management Budget for Deductible Currently, drivers of rental vehicles are prohibited from buying additional insurance from rental companies but changes are forthcoming Travel Insurance Policy All UT-owned vehicles should have insurance identification packet in glove box Rented or leased vehicles: The driver must obtain packet online or from Risk Management Auto Identification Card

4 Risk Management Driver Record Check Completes Section 1 of Driver Application Form Supervisor Completes Employee Consent to Obtaining Reports Completes Section II of Driver Application Form Employee Obtains motor vehicle record of employee and confirms eligibility of employee to drive Notifies supervisor of results Risk Management

5 Safety & Health Supervisor and employee are notified of defensive driver training requirement Instructions are provided for online training via the Safety Test Bank or classroom training is scheduled Retraining is required every 3 years Defensive Driver Training Access to online training is limited to individuals who have received at least one UT paycheck as employee data is downloaded from Banner into the Safety Test Bank Employee must use a networked campus computer to take the training. Wireless and remote access are restricted. Special Note
