People settle in a region because there are enough resources to live.

9. A scale is a tool on a map that allows you to measure distances.
I used a scale on the map to figure out the distance from NY to California.

10. A physical map shows land features, such as rivers, mountains, weather, deserts and lakes. It shows how high or low something is (elevation).

Many people are represented by Charlie Rangel, who is the representative for the North of Manhattan.
