Architecture Summary

Patient Records Manager (PRM) Allows Doctors and Nurses to view and edit patient information. Information is always up to date. Information can be linked to a Patient Administration System. Functionality: Ward Management Patient Data Vital Signs Patient Treatments Discharge reports Annotations Test Prescriptions Diets

Screenshots: Patient’s Records Access/Update Patient’s clinical data at bedsite.

Workflow Designer/Scheduler Designer Allows users to design multiple, flexible workflow processes. Creates graphical representations of workflows. Stores staff details, documents and algorithms related to activities. Scheduler Links a relevant staff member to a task. Gives a list of tasks Staff have to perform and when. Updates upon completion

Workflow Designer Figure 1: The Workflow DesignerFigure 2: An Example workflow

Personal Organiser (PO) Provides ability to access worklist and workitems remotely. Allows the user to start a new workflow. Runs inside a web browser. The PRM and the PO share a common interface. A logon page and a home page where the user can activate functionalities of the PRM and PO. A set of pages with the same friendly and familiar GUI.

Screenshots: Personal Organiser Track actions planned by ward staff and dispatch tasks.

Security Manager Preventing unauthorised access Securely transmit data between server and client. Authentication with digital certificates. Unauthorised devices unable to interact with the server. Restricting Access Allows user accounts to be created within WIH. User accounts have a level of authority assigned to them. Determines what operation the user may perform. Determines what records a user can view

Legacy Integration Module Allows WardInHand to link with Hospital Systems. Links to almost any hospital patient information system. Can import and export in four main formats: ODBC XML HL7 Text-delimited

LSIL Architecture LSI Server Record Tables WIH_XMLDFM Outgoing Manager Server TREI Server LSI_DFM Browser XML Document File Directory (XMD DFD) WIH_XMLDFM Directories LS DB WIH PRM XML request XML documentation visualisation HTTP connection HTTP connection WIH System

HL7 Converter Generates XML from legacy systems.

Localisation Five versions of the language dependent files exist. One for each of the currently supported languages: English Italian German Greek Spanish All components of the pages have been translated.

Summary WardInHand is a hand held application for use in wards. The main benefits of WardInHand are: Quality Efficiency The architecture has 4 main divisions: Patient Records Workflow Security Legacy system Integration
