2 Principles for Leading Discussion Be a Facilitator NOT a “Teacher” –The topic/material has already been taught. –The purpose of the discussion is to get everyone interacting on the topic on a deeper level. –What are the teens thinking about the topic/material –“How does it apply to my life?”

3 Principles for Leading Discussion Ask thoughtful questions, open- ended questions Get EVERYONE involved –Try not to allow the group to be dominated by a few people –When someone isn’t sharing, ask them directly Don’t be afraid of silence –Count to 20 before jumping in.

4 Principles for Leading Discussion Keep the group focused and on topic –Allow the group to open up and go their own direction within the topic.

7 Evangelism We Need to both… Establish the condition of the Sinner –They are a sinner, law-breaker, judged by God. AND Present the Authentic Person of Christ

8 Establish the condition of the Sinner The Law is a mirror Speeding Ticket Illustration How we present the Gospel is very important! –Parachute Illustration –Ray comfort (and others) advise that you share 90% Law and 10% grace.

9 Present the Authentic Person of Christ False Christ’s What is the Good News? Or should it be…Who is the Good News? –Not the Plan of Salvation –Jesus is the one who saves, not a method or a prayer.

10 Present the Authentic Person of Christ Invite them to.. –Consider or think about what you have talked about. –Read about Jesus in the bible. He does a pretty good job of describing how to be saved. Bring people to a point of decision to either accept or reject Christ. –Relationships are important but the longer you wait to confront them with Truth, the harder it will be.

11 Follow-Up Principles For Following Up After Camp

12 Follow-Up Read the decision forms Pray Plan a one on one meeting –McD’s, Visit their home, etc.. Determine if you are equipped to follow- through and continue to follow-through –Bible-studies, mentoring, discipleship –Do you need to train leaders –Do you need help…ask and seek it Always continue to Pray We will hold you accountable to following up with your students
