Throughout the Diocese all our Catholic schools are gathering at the same time for this celebration. This is an opportunity to look back over the Year of Faith and remember all it has meant to us. It is also a chance for us to celebrate the gift of young people in the Church and to remember the message of Pope Francis at World Youth Day. Francis told young people to ‘Go, do not be afraid and serve.’ Just take a few moments of silence now to put ourselves in God’s presence and to reflect on what that message means to us as young people in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Loving Father, We have enjoyed opportunities throughout this Year of Faith to come closer to You and to reflect on our own journey of faith. As the Year ends we look forward to the new mission given to us as the young people of the Church. Help us to answer the call of Pope Francis and to rise to the challenge he gives us to be generous with Christ and to bear witness to his Gospel. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

We are now going to watch a video message from Bishop Seamus who will be talking about Pope Francis’ message of ‘Go, Do not be afraid and Serve’ and how we can respond to this challenge.

A Reading from St Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy I am reminding you now to fan into a flame the gift that God gave you when I laid my hands on you. God’s gift was not a spirit of timidity, but the spirit of power, and love and self-control. So you are never to be ashamed of witnessing to the Lord. The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God

We are called to ‘Go’. We pray for the courage to ‘Go’ - and to share the Good News of God’s love that we have received. May we leave our comfort zones and set out on a new adventure each day as we follow in the footsteps of Jesus taking God’s love to everyone with no limits and no boundaries. Lord in your mercy

Response: Hear our prayer

We are called not to be afraid We pray for freedom from fear – and a deeper awareness of the presence of Jesus walking with us in our lives. May we be transformed by God’s Spirit and become fearless witnesses of the Gospel encouraging each other at all times. (Pause) Lord in your mercy

Response: Hear our prayer

We pray for a desire to serve without counting the cost – and to fan into a flame the gifts we have been given. May we share generously our time, our talents and our treasure so that more young people may come to know the unconditional love of God and may find the support they need on their unique faith journey. (Pause) Lord in your mercy

Response: Hear our prayer

Hail Mary Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Loving God, we bring our prayers before you. Help us recognise our status as the young members of your family. We hope that through our action in ContribYOUTH we will serve others by contributing our time, talents and treasure so that more young people may know your love through the work of the youth ministry team. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Reader:God our Father, we pray that you fan into a flame the gift of faith So that we can go from this place with fire in our hearts.
